OBW CELEBRATES THE MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR.,
DAY OF SERVICE

“We have the opportunity to make a better nation” – Dr. Martin
Luther King Jr.

Monday, January 18 is Martin Luther King Jr. Day. It is a day of
service.  OBW is holding an "Everything But The Kitchen Sink
Drive."  Through January 18, we are collecting gently used clothes,
shoes, toys, and books for various local organizations.  Join OBW in
making this a better nation. Help us with our project, or go to
http:
//www.mlkday.gov to find projects near you.
WHAT'S NEW WITH OBW:
You are welcome to join us for our service projects. Whether your
children are babies or in high school, your family is welcome.
Contact us beforehand, or just show up at our events.

All of the details are on the Local Programs page, and you will
remain up to date if you become a fan on Facebook.

Our own teen board president, Danielle Prieto, had an internship
this summer at the Broward Cultural Quarterly, and published an
article on One Beautiful World.

Music Video
OBW has produced a music video to help children stay healthy
during flu season.

"Wash Your Hands"

Watch it with your kids, and send it to your friends with children. It
features a song by Linda Sindt (known locally as "Miss Linda") called
"Wash Your Hands." It is a catchy tune, and just the right length for
a child to sing while washing her hands.
Thanks so much to Linda Sindt, for donating and performing the
song, and to Chris Tiedje, who shot and edited the video!
OBW's Food Drive
Thanks again to all who participated in the OBW food drive. In
response to the National Day of Service (commemorating
9/11/2001), and in celebration of the International Day of Peace
(Monday, September 21, 2009), OBW collected food for a local food
bank, the Cooperative Feeding Program, from Sept. 11 to Sept. 21.
The Cooperative Feeding Program thanks you, and wants you to
know that they also accept donations of clothing, and are in
particular need of adult men's clothes.
You can still read online the excellent article on OBW published in
South Florida Parenting Magazine.
